Hon. Sophia Simba patron for Tanzania Women of Achievement Awards

Hon. Sophia Simba Minister of State in the President’s office(Good Governance) and chairperson for Umoja Wa Wanawake Tanzania (UWT) is the official patron for Tanzania Women of Achievement Awards.

The awards were launched by a local PR company Frontline Management at the beginning of September with the objectives to empower and inspire women through recognition of the most exceptional and achieving women in the country who have not only achieved success in their own respective fields but have made a significant difference in their communities and society as a whole.

The judging panel is made up of a committee of 6 outstanding Tanzanians including

Dr. Chijoriga -Dean, University of Dar es Salaam business school,
Dr. Ramadhan Dau - Executive Director NSSF,
Mrs. Mary Rusimbi - Founder and former Executive Director for Tanzania Gender Networking Programme,
Sadaka Gandi- Counseling Psychologist,
Ms.Joaquine De Mello - Commissioner for the Commission for Human rights and Good Governance (CHRAGGR),
Innocent Mungi- TCRA Public Relations and Communication Director
Irene Kiwia - MD Frontline Management.

The categories for the awards include – Arts and Culture, Information & Communication; Public Sector; Young Achiever; Business Entrepreneur; Education; Health; Science & Technology; Social Welfare; Agriculture, and Sports.

The category winners and overall winner will be announced during a gala that will take place at the end of November 2009 at the Mlimani City Hall where the winners will receive cash money prize, trophy and certificate.
