Olsen Twins Release $35K Crocodile Backpack, Barneys Compares it to Hermès.Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen's brand the Row is expensive, we know that. But their latest release has just crossed the line into crazy. At the launch of their handbag line at Barneys, they showcased all their designs including a $35,000 crocodile backpack. Yes, you read right.
Barneys' fashion director Amanda Brooks however seems enamored with the bags and confident that women will buy them. She even goes so far as to compare them to Hermès, a brand the luxury department store doesn't carry. Brooks says:
Obviously we don’t carry Hermès bags in the store so we were trying to find something that appeals to that customer who is willing to spend a lot of money on a bag that’s going to last a long time and has a classic design...I think if you were every going to spend $35,000 on a bag, that’s the bag you should buy because I think you’d wear it for a really long time. There’s enough design to make it interesting and beautiful but they truly are classic bags–and I think you also might be the only one who has it.
Yes, the Olsen Twins' bags are beautiful, classic and made of the best materials. But given a choice, would you buy Hermès or the Row?
