Donatella Versace dubs 'Mad Men' star January Jones 'the most glamorous actress of our time'.

Donatella Versace has high praise for spokesmodel January Jones.

In a behind the scenes video of her recent ad campaign, the woman behind the Italian luxury brand said she chose the 33-year-old actress to be the face of Versace accessories because "she looks like the most glamorous actress of our time."

Jones appears nude in the ads for Versace accessories, save for high-heeled shoes and a strategically placed handbag.

"She's a girl who has no fear," the designer said.

The actress skyrocketed to fame on the 1960s' era AMC hit drama "Mad Men." While her style on the show is prim and perfect, a la Doris Day, the sexy black and white Versace ads, shot by Mario Testino, have the blond actress channeling another 1960s' icon -- Catherine Deneuve from the 1967 film "Belle du Jour."

Jones has worn Versace dresses to many high profile events, including the 2011 Golden Globes and last year's Emmys.

"I am always on the lookout for the next Versace blond," Versace told Women's Wear Daily late last year. "In January, I feel I have found a perfect Versace woman for the 21st century."

Versace's love for flaxen-haired models is no secret. The tanned designer even has her own perfume named after her favorite female trait: Blonde.

Designer Diane Von Furstenberg has broken nose, facial fractures from ski accident in Aspen.

Diane Von Furstenberg is recovering from some not-so-pretty injuries from a recent ski accident.

The wrap-dress diva designer told Women's Wear Daily that she suffered a broken nose and light facial fractures while skiing in Aspen, Colo., with her husband, business mogul Barry Diller.

"Barry and I were skiing happily," she told WWD. "Some Brazilian man, who could not ski, lost control and went straight at me, hitting me badly on my face and ribs with his camera," she said.

The 64-year-old fashion icon was rushed to a local hospital and then flown to UCLA.

"I look like Mike Tyson on his worst fight," she said. "I guess it could have been worse...but it does NOT look pretty."

She is recovering in Los Angeles.

Von Furstenberg is a believer in looking one's best while feeling one's worst.

Last September, she debuted bright-patterned hospital gowns for patients at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio.
Michelle Obama wears dress by American designer Rachel Roy to State of the Union address.

Designers, retract your claws. Michelle Obama wore an American designer's creation to Tuesday night’s State of the Union address.

The First Lady wore a simple silver sheath dress by Rachel Roy. She wore a black-and-white ribbon at the neckline as a show of support to Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, who could not be in attendance. The Arizona congresswoman is recovering from the Jan. 8 assassination attempt at the hands of a deranged gunman

The First Lady caused a style stir among the likes of Oscar de la Renta and Diane Von Furstenberg last week for daring to wear a scarlet Alexander McQueen to a state dinner with China.

The color red may symbolize good luck in Chinese culture, but her choice to wear a British designer ruffled a few feathers.

Von Furstenberg, the president of the Council of Fashion Designers of America, told Women’s Wear Daily, "We were surprised and a little disappointed not to be represented for this major state dinner."

De la Renta was miffed as well.

"My understanding," de la Renta told WWD, "is that the visit was to promote American-Chinese trade -- American products in China and Chinese products in America. Why do you wear European clothes?"

The CFDA can rest easy for now. Roy, a young designer of Indian and Dutch parentage was born and raised in California.
Lady Gaga's fragrance to smell like 'blood and semen'; Seminal scent to debut Spring 2012.

Lady Gaga wants her first fragrance to cause a visceral reaction.

She reportedly wants her scent to smell like "blood and semen," sources have told Fashionista.

Her "little monsters" shouldn't be surprised. Insiders told Marketingmagazine in the UK that it will have an extremely "unusual" fragrance.

The wacky pop star signed a deal with Coty last year, and her signature scent will hit shelves next year.

If Gaga's seminal scent is as out there as it's rumored, it already has company on the shelves.

Kilian Hennessy has a high-priced perfume called Liaisons Dangereuses that is meant to evoke the scent of an orgy.

And Demeter Fragrances has been selling near-ghastly smells for over a decade: Sushi, Lobster and Turpentine scents are just a few of their olfactory creations.
Michelle Obama wears red-hot Alexander McQueen dress to State Dinner honoring Chinese President.

All eyes were on the First Lady Michelle Obama's red Alexander McQueen dress at the White House state dinner, in honor of Chinese President Hu Jintao, on last week night.

The gown, which featured an asymmetrical neckline in a red petal print, has raised a few eyebrows, both for its bold choice and because she chose a British designer.

With the party-crashing Michaele Salahi's crimson-colored sari nowhere in sight, the First Lady stole the spotlight.

Critics wondered whether she ought to have selected Vera Wang, who has Chinese roots and was a guest at the dinner or Jason Wu, the Taiwanese designer who created the First Lady's inaugural dress.

Why Michelle Obama didn't choose an American designer was also a hot topic.

"Red is an obvious color because in China it means good luck, but you expect and American or an American-based designer for an occasion like this," said Kate Betts, author of "Everyday Icon: Michelle Obama and the Power of Style."

"But she's always surprising, and that's why we're all riveted by her," Betts said.

McQueen, an adored designer in style circles, committed suicide less than a year ago. Fashion reporters were quick to point the First Lady's choice so close to the one-year anniversary of his death on Feb. 11.

In the news: Obama responds to McQueen Backlash

Without offering a personal opinion on nationalistic fashion, we enjoyed Michelle Obama’s response to recent criticism over the decision to wear British label Alexander McQueen at a State Dinner. During an interview for Good Morning America, Obama said:

“Look, women, wear what you love. That’s all I can say. That’s my motto. I wear what I like because…I gotta be in the dress, so…”
