Will Chanel Tap Adele For a New Handbag Campaign?

Rumor has it Karl Lagerfeld has apologized for calling Adele fat by sending the British singer a number of his handbags — and there's also speculation that he wants her to be the next face of Chanel.

The apology came this week in the form of "a collection of Chanel bags worth a fortune," a source told The Sun. "He said he really wanted to make it up to her so they could maybe work together in the future. He could see her fronting a campaign for Chanel Mademoiselle bags when the contract with Blake Lively ends. He’s annoyed with himself because he ended up insulting her when he meant to compliment her. He thinks she’s beautiful and calls her divine."

The source says Lagerfeld felt badly after telling Metro that Adele is "a little too fat, but she has a beautiful face and a divine voice" in early February. He apologized in another edition of Metro about a week later, saying that he knows "how it feels when the press is mean to you in regards to your appearance."

Fashionologie asked Chanel if there are any plans to include Adele on its list of spokesmodels, but representatives from the house did not respond as of this posting.
