Sarah Burton to Receive OBE.

BURTON’S BIRTHDAY HONOR: Sarah Burton, the creative director of Alexander McQueen, has been given an honor by Queen Elizabeth for her role in creating the Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding gown.

The designer will receive an OBE, or Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, for her services to the fashion industry as part of the Queen’s annual Birthday Honors List, issued today.

Her late predecessor Lee Alexander McQueen was given a CBE, or Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire in 2003 — one notch above Officer.

And in a sign that the young royals are having a greater sway over the list of honorees, Helen Asprey, personal private secretary to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry, has been made Lieutenant of the Royal Victorian Order, another honor bestowed by the Queen.
