Nina Garcia Promoted to Creative Director at Marie Claire.

Marie Claire's new editor in chief, Anne Fulenwider, has wasted no time bringing star power to her masthead. She tweeted Wednesday morning that Nina Garcia had been promoted from fashion director to creative director, and that former W Magazine creative director Alex Gonzalez is the magazine's new artistic director.

"Alex and Nina are both inspired visual storytellers, and I am excited about what they will each bring to this new phase in Marie Claire's evolution," Fulenwider said in a statement. "Alex's impeccable taste and discerning eye will add a fresh point of view, and Nina truly embodies Marie Claire from a fashion and style perspective."

Garcia's new title is effective immediately. She'd been the fashion director at Marie Claire since late 2008 and will still appear as a judge on Project Runway. Gonzalez, who had been creative director of W since last February, starts next week. He'll keep his other job as the executive creative director of AR New York, the advertising agency he cofounded in 1996.
