William Balfour, estranged husband of Jennifer’s sister Julia, and stepfather of her son Julian, was arrested for the double murder of the singer’s mother and brother, and for kidnapping her nephew.
Balfour was out on parole and staying with the Hudson family. In 1999, he was sentenced to seven years in prison but was paroled in 2006. That parole was supposed to end in May of 2009 - just seven months from now. He has served time at the Illinois River Correctional Center for attempted murder, carjacking and stolen-property charges.
Balfour was arrested approximately two hours ago, but there was no sign of Julian. The Amber Alert declares 7-year-old Julian is wearing a brown, striped polo shirt and khaki pants. He is 4 feet, 11 inches tall, weighs 130 pounds and has brown eyes and black hair.
Neighbors reported gunshot noises from the home around 8 or 9 a.m. Friday, but no one called police until Jennifer’s sister Julia found her family slain around 3:00 pm.
