It’s either Whitney is back on Crack or all those years of using it have completely messed up her once amazing voice!!!
The future of Whitney Houston’s first Australian tour in 22 years hangs in the balance after the pop music icon appeared breathless and exhausted during her opening concert in Brisbane on Sunday night. Houston has sparked fresh fears for her health after struggling through her set on the “Nothing But Love Tour.”
Livid fans — some who paid nearly $200 for tickets — stormed out of the Brisbane Entertainment Center as Houston only sang two songs before she was forced to take a break. After half a dozen songs, during some of which she coughed, she left the stage to take a break, bringing on her brother, Gary Houston, to sing.
An Australian Associated Press music reviewer branded the show a disgrace, writing: “The multi-award winning singer appeared disoriented and failed to properly name some of her backing band as she introduced them to the audience. But the final act faltered at the finale when she croaked her way through I Will Always Love You, pausing to get a drink and towel herself down just as she was about to hit the song’s epic high note, which she turned into a soft coo.”
One disappointed concert-goer tells The Courier-Mail, “She was not fit to perform. She seemed to be on another planet, and the concert was laughable. When the back-up singer’s performance is the stand out for the night you know something is wrong.”
A fan interviewed on Australian TV after the show fumed: “It was a disgrace. She can’t sing. She didn’t sing one song properly. She was disorientated and she needed a 20-minute break. It was the first concert I have walked out of in my life.”
Houston is scheduled to perform at the Acer Arena in Sydney on Wednesday. The tour will then continue in Hunter Valley, Melbourne, and Adelaide. Whitney isn’t the only music superstar to hit a sour note with Australians. Last year, Britney Spears left fans outraged after it was revealed that she lip-synched through her concert performances.
