Kanye West: 'Taylor Never Came to My Defense'

While Taylor Swift seems to have moved on from the infamous incident at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, it appears that Kanye West hasn't.

The rapper, who's new album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy is getting near-universal critical accalim from every corner, performed a secret show at The Bowery in New York City last night. While on stage, Kanye seemed to say that Swift should have defended him in the media.

"Taylor never came to my defense at any interview," West said. "And rode the waves and rode it and rode it."

Taylor Swift did write a song about the awards show brouhaha, called "Innocent." Sample lyrics: "Your string of lights is still bright to me / Oh, who you are is not where you've been / You're still an innocent."

West also spent time on stage laying into Matt Lauer and the media in general. "Because [of] the popularity of me, they exploited that," West said. "But it shows you -- the way they try to villainize, the way they tried to do that."
