The $1 Billion Girl
Jessica Simpson is laughing all the way to the fashion bank.

In the midst of Mercedez-Benz Fashion week, New York magazine's Spring fashion issue just hit the newsstands. The mag's cover girl of choice? Jessica Simpson -- who looks fashion forward in an ultra-teased hairdo and a button-up shirt (only) in the spread.

Simpson focused on discussing her fashion entrepreneurship: "I never thought I'd be some fashion mogul!" she told the magazine.

Her fashion line, The Jessica Simpson Collection, is expected to make $1 billion this year in sales -- but does so by selling items at low price points that won't burn holes in consumers' wallets.

She explained: "When it comes to other celebrity brands, I think a lot of people do a great job, but it can't be all about them. Everybody doesn't want to just look like the celebrity, because they can't. They just want one element of that style."

The fashion mogul sells her line at well-known stores such as Nordstrom, Macy's and online at QVC.com.

Her manager explained the importance of making the brand easily accessible. "A girl could go to the shopping mall with her mother and she'd have a great new outfit and still have some money left for lunch at McDonald's. She can look like Jessica Simpson, smell like Jessica Simpson, and she can afford it," she said.
