Meredith Koop,First Lady Wardrobe Adviser,
Confirmed By
Michelle Obama's Spokeswoman.

Since her husband's inauguration in 2008, Michelle Obama has maintained that she does not use a stylist.

But it seems the U.S. First Lady is not without help when it comes to her fashion-forward - if sometimes controversial - style.

Political bloggers have named White House aide Meredith Koop as the sartorial secret weapon behind Mrs Obama's look.

According to Politico.com, the 28-year-old plays a 'pivotal role' in the President's wife's clothing choices, and is believed to be behind the controversial Alexander McQueen dress worn by Mrs Obama to a state dinner earlier this month.

And Kristina Schake, a spokeswoman for Michelle Obama, confirmed Koop's role to WaPo,saying, "Ms. Koop's responsibilities include advising the first lady on her wardrobe and acting on her behalf in arranging for purchases, including considering the best offered price and buying on discount if discounts are available."

But, first things first, how did Koop happen upon the White House? Apparently the 29-year-old Vanderbilt grad was first sent two years ago by former unofficial first lady stylist Ikram Goldman to help Michelle with her outfits on location. A source told WaPo that Koop's new role has caused a rift between her and Goldman.
