Tom Hanks, Julia Roberts Share Relationship Secrets with Oprah.Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts have distinctly different ideas about how to keep the spark alive in a marriage, and they shared their divergent approaches with Oprah Winfrey on her show Friday.
Oprah asked how the two married stars have managed to have survive "the Hollywood fame trap." Hanks implied it was because he had the brains not to get wrapped up in any sort of scandal.
"I happen to still be married because I'm not an idiot," he said.
Roberts was more romantic with her answer. "I'm just in love with my husband," she said of Danny Moder. She also explained that a friend once told her that if she wanted an interesting relationship, she should stay in one. "And it's true. He gets more interesting every day," she said. She addded that it helps that "he's hot."
Oprah also wanted to know the Larry Crowne co-stars' mantras for living. Hanks answered like a Zen master. "Tell the truth. That's the secret of happiness. If you tell the truth everything will work out."
Roberts's mantra was simple and ambitious: "Forward motion," she said.
