Update: Whitney Houston's Cause of Death May Have Been Drugs, Not Drowning.

While early reports suggested that Whitney Houston may have accidentally drowned in her hotel room's bathtub, TMZ is now reporting that the cause of death may have been a lethal combination of Xanax, alcohol, and other prescription drugs.

TMZ's sources report that the L.A. County Coroner's office has told Houston's family that there was not enough water in the singer's lungs to have caused her death. While it is still too early to determine the exact cause of death, law enforcement officers reportedly removed several medicine bottles from Houston's room, including ibuprofen, Xanax (an anti-depressant), Midol, amoxicillin (an antibiotic used for treated bacterial infections), and more.

Sources told TMZ that some of the prescriptions were filled at the infamous Mickey Fine pharmacy in Beverly Hills, which is where Michael Jackson had numerous prescriptions filled for Demerol and other drugs.

The gossip site also reports that it was Whitney's aunt, Mary Jones, rather than R&B singer Ray J, who discovered the singer's body on Saturday night. Jones reportedly laid out Houston's dress for the evening, then left the room for about 30 minutes. When Whitney did not come out of the bathroom, Jones is said to have entered, and pulled the singer out of the bathtub, before administering CPR.

Houston was only 48 years old when she died. She is survived by her only daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown, 18, and her mother, Cissy. No funeral plans have been announced, but the singer's body will reportedly be released by the Coroner's office and flown back to Atlanta to be laid to rest.

Houston's ex-husband, Bobby Brown, was spotted arriving at LAX to be with his daughter, Bobbi Kristina, who has been hospitalized twice since her mother's death. Brown had been touring with New Edition, but decided to skip a concert in Nashville on Sunday night to be with his daughter.
