VOICES II PROJECT SUPPORTS SWAHILI FASHION WEEK 2010.Swahili Fashion Week Day One on 4 November 2010 amongst other designers shall feature a Collection by Three Up-coming designers to advocate for the prevention and treatment of malaria, by MALARIA HAIKUBALIKI: Tushirikiane KuitokomezaI, Tanzania's national malaria communication campaign.. The Malaria Haikubaliki: Tushirikiane Kuitokomeza campaign is being implemented by a number of malaria partners in Tanzania including Johns Hopkins University Center for Communication Programs through its VOICES for a Malaria Free Future project.
“Swahili Fashion week is great way to reach a specific Tanzanian audience with malaria advocacy messages including the need to sustain current malaria efforts in Tanzania. We working shoulder to shoulder with young designers to join others across many industries to be the champions in kicking malaria out of the great country of Tanzania” stated Anna McCartney-Melstad, Advocacy Advisor for Voices for a Malaria Free Future-TZ.
Swahili fashion week Fashion advisory board have selected three aspiring designers to be part of
This Swahili fashion week Malaria Haikubaliki initiative. “The three Designers are Francisca Shirima, Mtoko designers and Diana Magesa from Morogoro” name Saphia Ngalapi, Swahili fashion Week media Manager.
The Designers each is collecting a collection which best depicts the vision of malaria Haikubaliki. For all three designers this is their first time participation in east Africa’s premiere fashion platform courtesy of Malaria Haikubaliki.
